Teacher's Aide (m/f/d)

Do you like working and communicating with people from different cultures? Are you starting your Federal Volunteers Service (Bundesfreiwilligendienst) year? At Advena CIS we are seeking two candidates for a part-time position of Teacher’s Aide. If you like to work in an organised, structured, and independent manner and have a passion for helping others, then we have a fitting place for your talent on our Advena CIS team.

 

Teacher’s Aide is there to assist with the preparation and distribution of teaching materials and to support the fantastic work of our international team of instructors and coaches.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Interpreting in the classroom into a designated language, when necessary.
  • Facilitating cultural translations in and outside of the classroom, whenever necessary.
  • Assisting Instructors with the preparation and distribution of teaching materials.
  • Preparing classrooms for lessons and workshops.
  • Taking attendance.
  • Monitor course participants.
  • Making sure course participants follow classroom rules and Institute’s policies.

 

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree  (or its equivalent) in Social Sciences, Cultural Studies, Humanities, or Teachers’ College.
  • Active knowledge of Arabic, Farsi, or Dari and German level B2.
  • Experience with working in culturally diverse environments, especially Middle-Eastern region.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clarify cultural misunderstandings and to deal with them in a respectful and compassionate way.
  • A positive, proactive, and enthusiastic work attitude.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times.

Preferred

  • Personal volunteering experience.
  • Very good English-language skills.

Volunteering Position (m/f/d)

If you like to work in an organised, structured, and independent manner and have a passion for helping others, then we have a fitting place for your talent on our Advena CIS team.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Administration (database maintenance, website maintenance, setting up email addresses/mailboxes, Facebook pages).
  • Managing the resources platform, creating and updating documents (guidelines, agreements, forms, certificates).
  • Assisting with phone-calls and with the receiving of clients and course participants.
  • Supporting the development of information material.
  • Assisting in the preparation of applications and reports for donors.

 

Qualifications:

  • High School / undergraduate degree (preferably BA) or its equivalent.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with an excellent eye for detail.
  • Professionalism and experience with work in intercultural environments.
  • Quick grasp of tasks and flexibility with the office workflow.
  • Competence in MS Office.
  • Sound interest in the work area of refugees, integration and education.

Preferred

  • Personal volunteering experience.
